Each scheduled visit will consist of a comprehensive exterior and interior inspection of your home in order to identify and prevent any issues that might occur. Below is our Home Watch Checklist that will be utilized and e-mailed to you upon completion of our inspection. If an issue is identified, we will attempt to contact you while still on-site to discuss and devise an appropriate course of action.

Your Departure/Arrival

Preparing for a absence long or short can be hectic enough without trying to remember every little detail to keep your home safe and secure while away. And who wants to return home to spend the first few hours or days returning the home back to lived-in condition? Let us take care of all of that for you. We will shut down your home after you depart to ensure integrity and security, and then open it prior to your arrival for comfort and convenience. Please see each detailed plan below and let us know how we can help.

Close home departure plan

• Discard perishable food items from refrigerator

• Turn off icemaker/remove ice

• Pour baking soda in garbage disposal

• Set A/C or heat setting to away

• Set water heater to vacation. If electric, turn off breaker. Disconnect circulator or set to OFF.

• Flush all toilets

• Turn off main water valve unless it feeds irrigation or pool. If that’s the case, close inside water valves.

• Open closet and cabinet doors to promote air circulation.

• Set out and fill 5 or more 5-gallon buckets of water to promote moisture in the house. Customer supplied or have Desert Sentinel supply these for your convenience. Cost of buckets extra.

• Turn phone ringers off

• Unplug automatic garage door openers, or lock main garage control switch

• Check that all windows and doors are secure

• Close all window treatments to client specifications

• Ensure any timed security lights are operational

• Remove all trash

• Set security system

**We recommend storing your patio furniture in the garage while away: if not, do not stack up against the house as this is a clear sign no one is home. Leave grill in place**

Open home arrival plan

• Turn on main water supply, flush out all faucets and toilets

• Turn on ice maker in freezer

• Energize water heater

• Set A/C or heat to client desired settings

• Open window treatments to client specifications

• Close closet and cabinet doors.

• Check phones for dial tones and turn on ringers

• Empty and remove moisture buckets

• Plug in automatic garage door opener

• Restock refrigerator and pantry with client specified food items (Additional charge for groceries applies)

• Set out patio furniture if stored in garage
